Waitlist Process
Thank you for contacting Sunshine Ragdolls! We are accepting deposits for kittens going home Winter of 2024. We can’t give a closer timeline due to varying litter sizes and personal requests. Please let us know a little about yourself, your work schedule, time away from home including vacations, living environment, experience, expectations and why you are interested in one of our Sunshine Ragdolls. We would also like to know your understanding of the breed and their needs. If you don’t know we are happy to walk you through everything. Our reservation deposit form covers prices and what is included with your kitten. All of our Ragdoll Breeders are genetic tested and free from Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) and Polycystic kidney disease (PKD). As well as SNAP/blood tested for FIV (immune) and FELV (leukemia). Kindly email all correspondence to sunshineragdolls@gmail.com
Kitten Availability
I always encourage people to take their time and do research. Talk to a few breeders and choose a breeder you feel comfortable with, rather than a cute kitten at a "good" price.
If you would like one of our kittens, please send an email telling us your home environment, experience, expectations and why you are interested in a Sunshine Ragdoll. Once we communicate and agree we are a good fit, we will be happy to match kitten with you when available. Everyone likes the idea of having first choice and no one likes the idea of having the last kitten. There is no such thing with our babies. All kittens are equally great, they share the same genetics and temperament. It is my job as a good breeder to give you a baby that you will love for many years. I will work with you on gender/color/markings however this may extend the wait time for a kitten. We have kittens every season, we do not predict exact dates. The queens are in control and it is only when and if they are ready.
Rest assured, if we accepted a deposit, we will have a kitten for you!
Testimonials
Bringing Your Kitten Home
Please bring a TSA-approved cat carrier with you when you come pick up your kitten. Once pickup/delivery has been arranged, please make an appointment with your veterinarian within one week of having kitten home
KITTEN'S FIRST WEEK HOME
Once your new kitten leaves our house, he/she is going to be under stress from leaving his or her brothers, sisters, and familiar surroundings. The kitten's immune system will be triggered by this stress and may sneeze or get diarrhea. Kitten might want to stay in the carrier with the door open for a few hours, or even overnight. they may not want tot eat or drink water for the first day. Throughout the early days, they may also make some sneezing sounds as their nasal passages blow out unfamiliar scents. this is very normal.
To minimize stress, please give your kitten as much safety and security as possible. The best way to make this transition fast and easy is to keep them in a designated room for 7 days. It will take the kitten about a week to start to feel secure with their new environment, including food, water, litter box, scratching post, and you. please keep your kitten in a bedroom WITH someone to sleep with overnight. Do NOT leave kitten alone.
Once kitten is settled in and showing interest and affection, you may carry him or her around outside the bedroom, but do NOT let the kitten wander around on their own. I suggest using a carrying sling for several days. After the 7 days, you may open the door and let the kitten venture out on his own but always stay near him. They will be inclined to follow you and stay by you until they feel more secure in this new environment. A cat or kitten doesn't need a lot of space to run and play-they need your security above all. If your kitten is very social in the beginning (just like with humans, some are a little more outgoing than others), you may carry your new kitten around with you, so they can look around but still be secure in your arms.
During the first week, also limit kitten's exposure to only those people who live in your home. Your kitten needs time to adjust to their new immediate family, so it is best to not entertain extended family and friends at this time. If you have children, please always supervise them around your kitten. Also, try to ensure that they remain calm around your kitten and to wash their hands before handling them. Children, shoes from outside, the pets, and other factors can introduce parasites, viruses, and bacteria. Your home is clea, but your kitten is very delicate and susceptible to getting sick. Please be careful about anywhere the kitten godsend was hands before holding.
OTHER PETS
If you have other cats or dogs, please introduce them to your new kitten after 7 days. Your older cats and new kitten will already have been acquainted by smelling each other under the door and on you. During this time, routinely take a clean sock and pet and rub your kitten's face and neck to collect positive pheromones. Take the sock and drop it in a common area where your existing cat spends time (not their bed or other special spots, as you don't want to invade your existing pet's safe spaces with new scents, and not near their litter box). Then spritz a little bit of Feliway. Let your cat naturally play with the sock - don't push the sock or rub the sock into your cat.Older cats may hiss at the new baby and you, because they are frightened by the strange new smell of the baby. They are not hissing at the new baby but at the unfamiliar smell. After about a week, they will have gotten acclimated to the scent of your new kitten. When you open the door to let the baby venture out, it should be without incident. but as a precaution, always stay with the kitten until ass cats are at ease.
FRAGRANCE
Please avoid perfume, cologne, air fresheners, diffusers, and most artificially scented products for the first few weeks(or preferably for the foreseeable future). Any household products with fragrance such as air fresheners, Plug in diffusers, and fabric softeners can be harmful or even toxic to cats. Most aerosols are toxic! Make sure all cleaning products are are pet safe and floors are rinsed of chemicals and dry before allowing kitten to roam. Many smart devices and electronics can send out harmful frequencies that we can't hear but your kitten can, and he may be disturbed by them.
OTHER
After the initial separation period in a bedroom, Kitten is now free to roam. Please have multiple food and water sources and feed wet food on separate plates. Please never feed kittens human food or cat treats. Freeze dried chicken is a treat until they get older. Rich fatty foods food can cause gastritis and many ingredients are toxic. If you have plants check to make sure they are safe, including flower arrangements. Do not brush their teeth with human toothpaste - it's toxic to cats. During the winter months when the heat is on, plan to run a humidifier and track humidity with a humidity meter because dry air can lead to poor health.

WET FOOD
Serve food on a clean, flat plateau every meal. The plate should be glass, steel or ceramic. Do not use plastic because it holds bacteria and can cause chin acne and possibly even an upset stomach. Give about 1/2 of a 3oz can per feeding and save the rest in the fridge for the next feeding. At the next feeding, microwave just to room temp. Crumble and sprinkle a little freeze-dried chicken on top. Feed 4 times per day. (8am/noon/4pm/8pm).
WATER
Water needs to be fresh/clean and preferably from a steel running fountain. Keep water source away from food and litter. Sanitize fountain at least once a week in the dishwasher. Thoroughly clean and scrub water pump. Cats and kittens have a low thirst sensation so you may not see a lot of drinking initially. If water is readily available, and wet food is given/eaten consistently, the kitten should be fine. If the kitten seems to be not drinking water for several days and becomes lethargic see a veterinarian as soon as possible.
LITTER
Plan to clean your litter box twice a day. Keep an open litter box near the bed during the transition time. You may very slowly move the litter box after a few months. Kitten needs to acquaint herself/himself with new surroundings so please put litter box in an obvious place and put baby in it if necessary. It is a new environment so it may take time for your kitten to catch on. If he/she poops or pees outside the box, please reinforce by putting baby in the box or move the box to where he/she commonly poops. Cats like all kinds of litter boxes (some even like a covered litter box) but always have an open box available for them. We use several different types - litter robot, open litter boxes, and climb-in litter boxes.
